Data Engineer
Data Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join the IT department of an international industrial group headquartered in Hamburg. You will design and evolve the group's data platform, from ingesting data from corporate systems and IoT devices to enabling analytics, using a stack built on Azure, Snowflake and Airflow. Permanent, full-time position; a very good command of English is essential.
What you'll do
- Design, build and maintain efficient, scalable data pipelines to collect, process and store data from multiple sources, ensuring its quality, integrity and availability.
- Model databases, designing schemas and structures that optimise storage, retrieval and processing for the needs of each business area.
- Develop, manage and optimise ETL processes to extract, transform and load data from different sources into target systems, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Manage cloud data warehousing and data integration using Snowflake and Azure Data Factory.
- Integrate data from IoT devices through Azure IoT Hub, enabling real-time processing and analytics.
- Orchestrate workflows with Apache Airflow to automate and schedule ETL processes and other data-related tasks.
- Monitor and optimise data systems for performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
- Ensure data systems comply with security standards and best practices, protecting sensitive data from unauthorised access.
- Work closely with data analysts and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver solutions that meet them.
Must have
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Snowflake and Azure Data Factory.
- Experience with IoT data integration using Azure IoT Hub.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
- Proficiency in ETL processes and tools.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
- Knowledge of data modelling principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts, particularly Azure.
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
- Very good command of English.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Knowledge of big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka or Hadoop.
- Experience with Power BI or other data visualisation tools.

- Azure or Snowflake certifications (e.g. Azure Data Engineer Associate or SnowPro Core).
- Experience with dbt or other in-warehouse transformation tools.
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, or with ERP data such as SAP.
